In order to persist the initial SST anomaly while making the base climatological SST evolve with time, do the following:
1. After generating the run script (e.g. configure-scr gsm), cd to runscr and edit fcstparm (or r_fcstparm in case of rsm).
2. Add the initial observed grib sst file as fnobsst0=Observed_SST_file
3. Run the job.
In order to obtain current observed sst, use libs/etc/ncepftp script (just execute ncepfrp and you get all the files required to make forecast.
